UV Lamp & Quartz Sleeve Service

A UV lamp's light output decays over a year of continuous operation even though it still looks lit — and the quartz sleeve around it slowly films over with mineral haze that blocks dose from reaching the water. Annual service replaces the lamp, cleans or replaces the sleeve, and verifies the chamber.

The failure is invisible by design: water pressure, clarity, and taste all stay identical while the actual disinfecting dose slides below spec. On a well that counts on UV as its safety barrier, 'the light is on' is not the same claim as 'the water is disinfected.'

We schedule replacements annually, and deliberately ahead of hurricane season on well systems — the barrier should be at full strength going into the months that test it. It is the stickiest small visit we make, and the one we'd least recommend skipping.
